A Message from President, Builders Network

The Home building business is, by definition, a two-sided coin.  On one side of the coin are the elements of “building” Location, Design and Quality Construction.  And as most people plan and dream of their new home, it is on this side of the coin that their thoughts are focused.  However, it is the other side of this coin, the side that addresses the “business” of building, which largely determines whether the buyer will have an enjoyable, affordable and successful home building experience.

The importance of good business management to the buyer cannot be overstated, for ultimately, it’s the buyer’s money that is being managed by the builder.  And while any builder can read a blueprint or drive a nail into a piece of wood, it’s the builder’s ability to contain costs, control scheduling, and coordinate the activities of an arm of independent subcontractors that will determine quality, value and long-term satisfaction.

The concept of quality is often the most difficult for the buyer to evaluate.  It’s fairly easy for the buyer to compare standard features such as air conditioning, siding and flooring materials.  But what they can’t see as easily is the amount of care and attention to detail that goes into each house, each day, by each craftsman involved in a Builder’s Network home.

There’s no such thing as a completely problem free house.  You’re dealing with wood that moves, temperatures that fluctuate and the natural settling of the home.  The key to warranty protection is not just what you have in black and white, but rather the character and integrity of the person who is going to stand behind his work.
